$2,854 towards $10,000

This has been a very difficult year for us all. The pandemic has changed our world in ways we could never have imagined. As many of you know I lost my sister this past fall as well. Although never a smoker she fought a brave battle with lung cancer that ultimately took her life. I am more convinced than ever that cures for many dreaded diseases like this will come from Stem Cell research. Hadassah doctors are at the forefront of this research, and inroads are being made to treat Covid-19, MS, Macular Degeneration, ALS, Cancer, Parkinson’s as well as Alzheimer’s which claimed my mother 10 yrs ago, and more. In fact my sisters son was a recipient of a stem cell transplant when he was just 13 yrs old after his own battle with leukemia. 16 years later we celebrated his 29th birthday together with a zoom family call grateful for his life and this amazing therapy that saved him. I am hopeful that through continued research other families somewhere will be able to celebrate life with all members present as a cure for all these dreaded diseases will be found. This year we are holding our 15th annual Stem Cell walk-a-thon for Hadassah medical organization. However due to the pandemic it will look a bit different.

On May 2nd, our Walk-a-Thon is going VIRTUAL!

This means wherever you are, you can walk with us.

Walk anywhere you’d like – on a treadmill, around the block, in a park or around your garden, inside or out. If you have a t-shirt from a previous year, wear it. Take a photo or short video and send it to us on your walk at nassauwalkathon@hadassah.org. We will post it on our website and on Hadassah Nassau’s Facebook page.

Then, at 7:00 p.m. on May 2nd, join us for a Zoom Celebration! (Link to follow)

I hope you will support me and HELP TURN RESEARCH INTO CURES.
