Our Panel:
Rabbi Steven C. Wernick, Senior Rabbi of Beth Tzedec Congregation in Toronto, Canada, is noted for prioritizing inclusivity for the diversity of the Jewish people. Before his move to Toronto in 2019, he served as Executive Vice President and CEO of the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism (USCJ) where he spearheaded a transformation to allow the organization to meet the changing needs of 21st century congregations. In 2022, he received an honorary Doctor of Divinity from JTS for service to the Jewish People. He has been named one of Newsweek's 50 Most Influential Rabbis in America.
Rabbi Joy Levitt is currently the Director of J-Lab, a project of the Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan which serves as an incubator of new ideas to help strengthen Jewish life. Previously, she worked as the CEO of the JCC after twenty-five years helping to build it into one of the most prominent centers for Jewish life and community in the U.S. While at the JCC, she founded the Jewish Journey Project, an innovative new approach to Jewish education for children, and built ten centers of excellence. Rabbi Levitt serves on the boards of a number of organizations including the Shefa School and the Jerusalem Foundation.
Rabbi Serena Eisenberg has been Northern California Director of AJC since February 2018. She served as the President of the Northern California Board of Rabbis and worked for Jewish organizations in the Bay Area for over 25 years. Previously Eisenberg was the Executive Director of Hillels at Stanford University and Brown University. She is a member of both the Reform and Reconstructionist Rabbinical Assemblies and is an alumnus of several fellowships, including Wexner, Mandel Jerusalem Fellows, CLAL Rabbis without Borders, the Institute for Jewish Spirituality, Chautauqua Interfaith Clergy, and AJWS Global Justice Rabbis. Rabbi Eisenberg will be serving as the moderator for this event.
