Join Hadassah Sharon Chapter November Open Meeting –

November 22, 2022 @ 1 pm on Zoom only

Guest: Taylor McDaniel Kilgore
Speaking on the Paper Clip Project

In 1998, eighth-grade students in Whitwell Middle School (Tennessee) began an after-school study of the Holocaust. As the study progressed, students learned that the Nazis exterminated six million Jews. The sheer number overwhelmed the students; six million was not a number they could even begin to grasp.

The students decided to collect something to show the enormity of this number. After some research, they chose to collect paper clips after learning about Joseph Valler: a Norwegian Jew credited with inventing the paper clip. During WWII, Norwegians wore paperclips on their lapels as a silent protest against Nazi occupation.

When a student, Taylor was part of the Paper Clip Project. She will be speaking about the project, how it was carried out, how it impacted the participants, and how it resonates today.

Meeting is at 1:00 pm on Zoom ONLY. (Due to technical difficulties, we are unable to be in person for this meeting.)

Deadline to register is Monday, November 21 at Noon. Proceeds to benefit Hadassah.

The Zoom link will be sent out the day before the meeting.
