A Hike Through Time: Victorian and Gilded Age Morristown

The tour will begin at 1:30 pm at the Frelinghuysen Arboretum in front of the former Whippany Farm, The Mansion. We'll learn about the Frelinghuysen family and their home with docent Carol Barkin of the Morris County Tourism Bureau. Then the group will hike one mile along Patriots Path to Acorn Hall. Both homes are on the National Register of Historic Places.

At Acorn Hall, there will be a tour of the house, the gardens and carriage house, and their newest exhibit on women's fashions called "From the Waist Up". The exhibit consists of bodices only from their extensive collection of historic clothing.

Light refreshments will be served on the back porch overlooking the garden, and then the group will hike back to the Frelinghuysen Arboretum, arriving back by 4 pm.
