Honoring Dr. Harriet Sepinwall and our Chapter Women of the Year.

Dr. Harriet Sepinwall is a dedicated life member of Hadassah, who has made her daughters and daughter-in-law life members as well. She has been inspired by the work of Hadassah in healthcare, advocacy, domestic policy, and Holocaust education. Her life’s work is exceptionally remarkable. She retired from the College of Saint Elizabeth after 36 years of teaching courses on New Jersey, American, Holocaust, and world history, as well as participating in teacher training and Holocaust education. Dr. Sepinwall co-founded the Saint Elizabeth Holocaust and Genocide Education Resource Center. Becoming a leader in Holocaust education for teachers of public, Catholic, Jewish, and independent schools, Dr. Sepinwall has taken students, teachers, survivors, and members of the Second Generation on study trips to study the Holocaust at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum and the Museum of Jewish Heritage, and at important sites in Poland, Germany, and Israel.

Dr. Sepinwall has also been a member of the State of New Jersey-Israel commission since its founding. She is a permanent member and provides insight into the ways that New Jersey and Israel can collaborate and build bridges. Dr. Sepinwall actively participates in Hadassah Days in the District, meeting with our Federal Senators and Representatives and lobbying for Israel, women’s health, Holocaust education, immigrant rights, environmental concerns and much, much more. You will undoubtedly be moved by her passion for the ideologies in which she believes.

Don’t forget that this year, the chapters will again be selecting their Women of Valor, and we will be honoring those women at our event to recognize all they have done for Hadassah. She may be any devoted member of your chapter that you wish to honor. It should be someone who has not received this honor previously, however, a person can receive the honor a second time as long as there are at least ten years in between awards. Also remember that sitting presidents are eligible to be a chapter’s Woman of Valor.

Please notify Linda Lowenthal lowenthals@msn.com and/or Carole Shapiro cshap3@hotmail.com as soon as possible of your Chapter name and the name and contact information for your Woman of Valor.

The value of goods and services represented by each registration is $36 and is not tax deductible. All other registrations include a non-deductible $36 registration with the balance being a donation.
